Workforce Programs
The NEDC works to connect local businesses with workforce programs that are needed to upskill their current workforce and thrive in the community. The Texas Workforce Commission and Workforce Solutions of Brazos Valley offer several programs for Texas companies to take advantage of, such as onsite training, apprenticeship training, and much more. ADULT EDUCATION & LITERACY
These programs assist individuals in acquiring skills needed to succeed in the workforce, earn a certificate of high school equivalency (HSE), and enroll in college or career training. These programs are offered at no cost for out-of-school individuals who are 16 years of age or older.

APPRENTICESHIP
Apprenticeship combines paid on-the-job training under the supervision of experienced journey workers with related classroom instruction. Most registered apprenticeship training programs last from three to five years as determined by industry standards.

CHILD CARE SERVICES
Workforce Solutions Brazos Valley is working hard to ensure that all workers in the Brazos Valley have access to child care services. Please utilize the resources below for Low-Income (At-Risk) child care services. Workforce Solutions Brazos Valley provides subsidized child care services to low income families in the 7-county region. To be eligible to apply for child care services, each parent or guardian residing with the child must be working, in an approved training program, or in school a minimum of 25 hours per week.

EMPLOYMENT SERVICE
The Employment Service (ES) program provides comprehensive recruiting, job search, and related services to businesses and job seekers to connect employers seeking workers and individuals seeking employment. ES coordinates job openings between states and administers the unemployment insurance (UI) work test to verify that individuals receiving UI benefits are registered for work and are actively seeking employment.

FOREIGN LABOR CERTIFICATION
The Foreign Labor Certification program establishes a means for an employer who anticipates a shortage of domestic workers to bring nonimmigrant foreign workers to the U.S. on a temporary or seasonal basis. TWC assists employers with temporary H-2A agricultural and H-2B nonagricultural job postings for recruitment of U.S. workers, conducts agricultural surveys, and reviews and processes temporary employment certification forms according to U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) regulations.

The Texas Internship Challenge is a recommendation from the Texas Workforce Commission, Texas Education Agency and Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board to the Governor’s Office, as part of the Tri-Agency Initiative, challenging industry and employer partners to offer more paid internships for Texas students.
